Contemporary Protestantism

Contemporary Protestantism increasingly resembles a breakdance battle. Everyone steps into the centre of the circle, shows their own moves and claims that the Holy Spirit choreographed them personally.

Everyone builds their own model of Christianity. Everyone has a “vision”. Everyone claims, “God told me”. Yet when everything is accepted as God’s voice, nothing can truly be tested.

When personal experience becomes the highest authority

There is no accountability. There is no spiritual authority with the right to say, “Brother, you are wrong.” There is no shared standard to which everyone returns. Personal revelation begins to replace the common teaching of the Church, and individual experience becomes a higher authority than Scripture.

Not every good idea is God’s will. Not every inner feeling is guidance from the Holy Spirit. Not every “God told me” is true.

Christianity is life in a body

The New Testament never presents Christianity as spiritual independence. It presents life in a body, under spiritual leadership, with mutual accountability and faithfulness to the apostles’ teaching.

Freedom in Christ does not mean independence from the Church. True freedom always walks together with humility, mutual responsibility and submission to God’s Word.
