Why is God silent when we most need an answer?

Sometimes we confuse silence with absence. When Lazarus was ill, Christ heard the news and remained where He was for two more days.

Silence does not mean indifference

Jesus did not delay because He did not care. He was preparing something greater than Mary and Martha expected. They wanted healing. Christ was going to show that He is the Resurrection and the Life.

“Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.”John 11:5

Notice the order in Scripture: Jesus loved them, and therefore He stayed. The delay was not despite His love, but part of its working. God’s love does not always look like an immediate answer.

Faith grows roots in silence

When there is no clear answer, we learn to hold onto God’s character, not only His gifts. Prayer stops being a means of control and becomes trust.

Do not stop praying in the silence. That is where faith grows roots. God may not have answered in the way you expected, but that does not mean He has stopped working.
